Job Spec EVP Operations – London 190112

Job Summary

The EVP – Operations will be a key member of the executive team, and will participate in the Management Board, as well as the Leadership Team.  The EVP – Operations will have responsibility for profit and loss for the regions and will be responsible for c 4 direct senior Regional Director reports. The key focus of the role will be on developing the commercial/corporate leadership capability within the regions, improving profitability of the Region and Global P & L, the introduction of a stronger more cohesive global delivery model, improved organisation of resources through the introduction of global competency centres and networks, capitalisation of the knowledge and capability to give us the leading edge in the market in terms of profit performance, quality, delivery and customer satisfaction.

The EVP – Operations must be a proven leader who can set a direction, for and with a senior team.   Acting as a strong leader within the business, the candidate must demonstrate a strong personality and gravitas, and will naturally gain the buy in and support of the Regional “Heads” and will comfortably educate and direct the team.  Strong operations and commercial focus, balanced with the ability to ensure consistency in processes and standards across the organisation.  Working in a complex environment, the candidate will be set high standards of performance and targets for the team, and primarily focus on delivery of results and growth within the division.

Principle Duties and Accountabilities

  • Establishing the strategy and operational plans within each region which are consistent with the overall goals of the global strategy of the company.
  • Leadership and management of a strong and senior entrepreneurial team of individual business/Regional Directors, including regular communication and planning.
  • Develop a strong global and commercial mindset within the team, ensuring a focus on profitable growth, with clear KPI’s, financial controls, measures in place.
  • Working as part of the Management Board, help shape the overall strategy and plans for the division,  and directly responsible for defining the strategies and plans for growth, profitability and operational performance improvement within each Region and globally.
  • Establish global priorities in service offering, competency centres and areas of expertise in regions and set clear growth targets, accountabilities and KPI’s for the Regional heads.
  • Management of significant transformation through the implementation of consistent global delivery model and organisation of our global resources, aligned to the strategy, which ensure improved profitability and performance in our operations.
  • Manage the transformation and realisation of the benefits in relation to process and systems improvement globally; through the Introduction of consistent operating processes/practices, systems and procedures to improve performance and day to day running of the business.
  • Working closely with the EVP – Global Business Development, to ensure strong client relationships are built,  global opportunities identified and significant project / investments and business effectively tendered and won.
  • Responsible for ensuring clear focus and planning within each region, including monthly financial and performance reviews against budget/forecast.
  • Reporting back to GL Executive Board on key issues, opportunities and operational improvements
  • Feel and act as part of the global company and responsible for integrating business operations into the global business, systems and processes.
  • Visit clients, trade shows and key events to promote the company.

  • Current €400m
  • EBIT 17%

Non-financial (staff management etc)

  • Currently  c4 direct reports
  • Currently c3500 in operations

 

  • Competencies

    • Should ideally have worked at a senior level within a technical consultancy organisation ideally within Oil & Gas.
    • Demonstrable commercial experience and track record of growth within an operational role.
    • Managed transformation of a complex business into a streamlined globally organised and run business.
    • Must have a high degree of customer affinity and the experience of building a world class customer orientated organisation, based on strong delivery and quality
    • An inspirational leader and strong team player, with the entrepreneurial ability to operate and excel in a changing and rapidly growing environment

    Technical / Professional Expertise and Qualifications required

    • MBA or Engineering or Business degree preferred
    • Minimum  of a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
    • At least 10 years experience in a senior operational role with P & L responsibility.
